PM-KISAN 2026: 7 Checks Every Farmer Should Make

PM-KISAN 2026 is an important government income-support programme for eligible farmer families in India. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, eligible landholding farmer families receive ₹6,000 annually in three equal instalments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), subject to scheme rules and exclusions. Farmers should regularly check their e-KYC, beneficiary status, Aadhaar-linked banking details and eligibility to avoid preventable payment problems.

What Is PM-KISAN in 2026?

PM-KISAN is a Central Sector Scheme administered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. It provides eligible landholding farmer families with financial assistance of ₹6,000 per year, transferred in three instalments of ₹2,000 each. The programme supports farm-related household expenses, including the purchase of seeds, fertilisers and other agricultural inputs.

In June 2026, the government released the 23rd instalment, transferring more than ₹18,880 crore to approximately 9.44 crore farmers. In July 2026, the Union Cabinet also approved the continuation of PM-KISAN from 2026–27 to 2030–31, with a financial outlay of ₹3.15 lakh crore. Farmers should still verify their own eligibility and payment status rather than assuming that every registered applicant will receive each instalment.

Seven PM-KISAN 2026 Checks Every Farmer Should Make

  1. Complete PM-KISAN e-KYC

e-KYC is mandatory for registered PM-KISAN beneficiaries. Farmers should check whether their e-KYC is marked as completed on the official portal. Depending on the available option, authentication may be completed through OTP-based verification or biometric verification at an authorised Common Service Centre (CSC).

If the status is incomplete, follow the official instructions to finish verification. Do not share OTPs or banking passwords with unknown callers who promise faster payments.

  1. Check Your PM-KISAN Beneficiary Status

Use the official PM-KISAN website to check your beneficiary and payment information. Open the “Know Your Status” service and follow the instructions to access your record. Keep your registration number and registered mobile phone available if required.

Check the payment status, e-KYC information and any message indicating that further action is needed. Use the official portal rather than unofficial websites claiming to provide guaranteed instalments.

  1. Verify Aadhaar and Bank Details

Farmers should confirm that their personal information is accurate and that the required Aadhaar and bank-account verification has been completed. Errors in names, account information or payment-related records may require correction before a transaction can be processed.

If the portal identifies missing information, follow its instructions or contact the relevant agriculture office or authorised service centre. Never publish Aadhaar numbers, account numbers or other sensitive personal information on social media.

  1. Confirm Your Eligibility

PM-KISAN is intended for eligible landholding farmer families, subject to the scheme’s exclusion criteria. Certain categories, including institutional landholders and specified higher-income or public-service categories, are excluded under the rules.

Registration alone does not guarantee payment. Farmers should review the official eligibility guidelines and respond to any verification request issued by the authorities. If land records or family details are incorrect, ask the appropriate state or local revenue office how to correct them.

  1. Review Land Records and Farmer Information

Accurate land records and farmer details are important for beneficiary verification. Farmers should check whether the landholding information recorded by the relevant state authorities matches their actual records.

If land ownership, inheritance, name spelling or other details have changed, ask the local revenue department or agriculture office about the required correction process. Do not submit false documents or pay unauthorised agents to alter eligibility records.

  1. Check the Payment Status Before Assuming a Delay

If an instalment has not reached your account, first review the PM-KISAN status page for payment details or pending verification. Check with your bank if the portal indicates that the payment was processed but the amount is not visible in your account.

A missing payment can have different causes, including incomplete e-KYC, eligibility verification or incorrect banking information. The exact reason should be confirmed through the official portal or the responsible department.

  1. Use Official Help and Grievance Channels

If your details appear correct but the issue remains unresolved, use the helpdesk or grievance options provided on the PM-KISAN portal. Farmers can also approach their local agriculture office or authorised CSC for assistance with the prescribed process.

Keep your registration details and relevant records ready when raising a query. Avoid sharing sensitive documents with unverified agents or paying anyone who guarantees approval or a release date.

How to Check PM-KISAN Beneficiary Status

Farmers can follow these general steps:

  1. Visit the official PM-KISAN website.
  1. Select “Know Your Status” or the relevant service under Farmers Corner.
  1. Enter the requested registration details and complete verification.
  1. Review the available e-KYC, eligibility and payment information.
  1. Follow the official instructions if a correction or additional verification is required.

Portal labels and verification steps may change. Always rely on the current official website for the latest process.

Other Farmer Welfare Schemes to Explore

PM-KISAN is only one part of India’s agricultural support system. Depending on their needs and eligibility, farmers may also explore the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for crop insurance, the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) facility for eligible agricultural credit, and state government schemes for irrigation, farm equipment or other agricultural assistance.

Benefits, application windows and eligibility requirements differ between schemes. Farmers should verify the latest guidelines through official government portals or their state agriculture department before applying.

What Farmers Should Do if Payment Is Delayed

Start by checking e-KYC, beneficiary status, eligibility and payment information. If the portal shows missing details, complete the required correction through the authorised process. If payment is marked as processed, contact your bank; if eligibility or land records are under review, seek clarification from the relevant government office.

The key takeaway: PM-KISAN beneficiaries should check their records regularly and use official channels to resolve problems. Completing verification and keeping information accurate can help eligible farmers identify issues early, although it does not guarantee immediate payment or approval.
